Quickbites - Wabi Sabi

Italy has without question, one of the most extensive range of cuisine in the world, stemming from the unique cultural identity of each of it's 20 provinces. However, Italians, while great fans of dining and cooking, have only recently expended their horizons beyond European palates. For that reason, I seldom suggest sampling Asian or middle eastern delicacies while exploring Florence.

One exception, without reserve, is Wabi Sabi, a full range japanese restaurant with a unique modern decor not far from Palazzo Pitti in the direction of Porta Romana. The edamame is fresh and offered by the house. The sushi and sashimi, impeccable (if not expensive) but the highlight is a tonkatsu which took me back to my Bento lunches in Tokyo.

For those that like a 'authentic experience', small tables on the floor can be found in the back. Worth a try without question.

Just been there, and have to agree. Didn't try the Tonkatsu, though ...

Interior design is quite an antidote to the medieval Florentine style, too!
